Juneteenth is the oldest nationally-celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery of blacks in the United States, it began in Galveston, Texas in 1867.
From its Galveston, Texas origin in 1865, the observance of June 19th also called Juneteenth, as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond. Texas officially made it a holiday in 1980, and 45 more states and the District of Columbia have since followed suit. This year, a number of a major companies declared June 19, also known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day.

On this episode of the NTEB Prophecy News Podcast, we will explore the rich history of Juneteenth, pronounced as the combination of 'june' and 'teenth' for the nineteenth day of the month, and why this day is so important to blacks in America. We will attempt to look honestly and realistically at the history of slavery in the United States, as well as what the King James Bible has to say on that subject as well. Today is June 19th, and a great time to look at Juneteenth from the eyes of black people. Race relations are currently the number one topic for discussion in America right now, so a look at Juneteenth could not be more timely.

Slavery is a very emotional and complex topic, and on this program we will do our best to talk about rationally and respectfully, and as honestly as we possibly can. Every white person in American needs to understand why Juneteenth is so important to the black community, if we are ever going to get to the place where a real dialogue is possible. And as we always do, we will let the bible have the last word on this subject, and in doing so, we will find the only place where true comfort and healing can come from, God's preserved word. Juneteenth is a fascinating historical event, and I trust learning about it will be a blessing to you.
