One of the big questions in the back of people's minds is, "If Jesus is going to come, why hasn't He?" In Peter's second epistle, after he reminds us that the holy prophets and he and the other Apostles have spoken of these things, he writes this:
"...Knowing this first, that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, 'Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation'" (2 Peter 3:3-4).
Scoffers would speak of this in derision and denial, but it is not an unreasonable question for the honest inquirer. We are encouraged to search the Scriptures for the hidden treasures that are there. And God says to all, "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13).
