 Putin's bungling military 'accidentally destroys one of its own ships during botched war games strike killing THREE on a Baltic Sea Trawler.

Russia has accidentally destroyed its own fishing trawler in the Baltic Sea in a shocking friendly fire incident amid botched war games. 

The fishing vessel - named the Captain Lobanov - is seen trailing smoke after suffering a missile attack off the coast of Russia's exclave Kaliningrad. 

There was an apparent attempt to cover up the acutely embarrassing blunder by Vladimir Putin's Baltic Fleet with initial reports saying there was an unexplained 'explosion and fire' on the trawler.

Three were killed and four wounded in the suspected Iskander-M missile strike, with the stricken seamen able to escape on a lifeboat. 

A relative of one of the crew members told independent Russian media outlet Dozhd about the strike.

'When the survivors were taken away, everyone knew perfectly well that three people had died,' said the source.

'And everyone knew perfectly well that a rocket had hit. But they decided to write that there was a 'fire' on board.'
