Two Jewish tourists have been attacked by a group of 10 migrants chanting "Free Palestine" in Venice. Men from north Africa surrounded the couple just before midnight on the Strada Nuova, one of the main shopping streets near the Rialto Bridge in the Italian city.
The American and Israeli duo were wearing Orthodox clothing and tried to flee from the attack. However, the men chased and then encircled them while shouting "Free Palestine".
It is believed one then set his rottweiler on the tourists, while another slapped the man. A glass bottle was also thrown which then shattered and injured the woman's ankle.
The attack was eventually broken up by officers from the Guardia di Finanza, Italy's heavily-armed financial crime unit, who witnessed the attack and intervened. A 31-year-old Tunisian man, who had slapped one of the tourists, was arrested, alongside two others.
