YET ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THE SORT OF PEOPLE THE C OF E ARE ALLOWING INTO THEIR PULPITS AND PLACES OF LEADERSHIP!!

Anyone who saw the recent "The Vicar Academy" series on BBC television will not be surprised by the female Church of England vicar being interviwed in the link below.

Anything seems to be accepted in the C of E these days, as the TV series portrayed, and here is yet another example of one of their priests and clergy staff (who are employed to lead their parishioners into Christian practices and morality) living and preaching disgusting habits and lifestyles!

God help us if this is multiplied all over this fallen church. I think the words "I will spew you out of My mouth" from the Lord Jesus come to mind! (Nev).

REVIEW OF THE LAUNCH OF THE BIBLE PROPHECY FOUNDATION AT BLACKBURN LAST SATURDAY.

Hazel and I attended the official launch of the Bible Prophecy Foundation in Blackburn last Saturday, and I would like to include on this blog a short report of the day which I compiled in association with Brian Gemmell for publication on his blog. I would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Barry and Pauline Willan who offered us superb hospitality over the weekend. We had never met them before, but when "kindred spirits" meet, it feels like we have known them for years! (Nev).
The report reads as follows:

Dear Friends,

I would just like to offer you a brief summary of what happened at the first formal gathering of the BIBLE PROPHECY FOUNDATION, which took place on Saturday, the 24th November at the splendid Leamington Road Baptist Church in Blackburn, who offered their excellent facilities free of charge.

The meetings were a great time of fellowship for the one hundred and fifteen supporters who gathered from all parts of the country, including Scotland and Wales. The sense of the presence of the Lord was felt throughout the time together.

The Chairman of the BPF, my good friend David Hoyle opened up the time together and led the opening session, which included a statement of our aims and objectives, and our raison d'etre. His chairmanship was clear, but discrete, directing attention to the Lord Jesus and His imminent return. The worship was strong and anointed, being superbly led by musicians and our good friends from the Ainsdale Evangelical Church.

The evening session was well chaired by the treasurer of the BPF, Roy Cook from Blackburn, and I had the privilege of bringing the two ministerial messages. My first talk centered on the fallacy of the Mayan Calendar prediction that the world will end on December 21st, and how accusing fingers will be pointed at us when this dubious forecast prophecy fails, even though we never attempt to set dates or make false Biblical accusations. We need to stand firm in our stance on TRUE Bible prophesies and not be led astray by these false prophets!

In the evening meeting I tended to concentrate on the Scriptures themselves, rather than erroneous words from puny mankind, and I warned about the events happening in the world today, especially in the Middle East, which indicate very strongly that The Rapture of the Church to glory is very close at hand. The two sessions were well received by the body, and the day closed with a deep sense of gratitude to the Lord, and a tangible joy expressed by so many!

DVD's and CD's of the meetings will soon be available from David and Julie Boyden who were present to record the event to their usual very high standards. Their website can be found at www.twobytwoworship.com.

Kathleen, Gilly and I were very blessed personally by the lovely day in the presence of the Lord.
Maranatha Blessing To You All,
Brian.

GREAT STORY OF HOW A RADICAL ISLAMIST BECOMES AN ARDENT ZIONIST!!

Radical Islamist Turns Ardent Zionist: The Story Of Kasim Hafeez

By

By Fern Sidman – “On Thursday evening, November 15, an audience of several hundred people sat in rapt attention at Temple Israel on New York City’s Upper East Side, as they heard the compelling narrative of a most unusual man.
Kasim Hafeez, 28, is a British-born Muslim of Pakistani descent who was raised in an environment where he was taught that ‘Jews control the world, and Israel is at fault for just about everything.’ As many other young Muslims in the United Kingdom, he embraced the teachings of radical Islam and internalized the visceral hatred for Israel that is endemic to this philosophy.

Growing up in a home where his father praised Adolf Hitler (ym’sh) as a ‘brilliant man’ whose only shortcoming was that he ‘didn’t kill enough Jews,’ Kasim Hafeez was being groomed to be yet another virulent Israel basher, but this life trajectory was abruptly derailed when he decided to undertake some serious research on the political history of Israel. Today, the Nottingham-based university administrator addresses audiences around the globe about the epiphany of truth that changed his life, and his speeches are being sponsored by the premier North American pro-Israel student advocacy organization, StandWithUs.

PWMI LOCALLY CLOSES DOWN FOR THE CHRISTMAS PERIOD, BUT LOTS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE NEW YEAR!

We all had a fabulous time at Nancy's marvellous old 17th century farmhouse in Bassaleg last Saturday when the very impressive and always up-to-date Dr Paul Wilkinson gave two excellent talks on "WHO CARES WHEN JESUS RETURNS?", followed by a very lively Q&A session, with the whole conference lasting nearly five very enjoyable hours (including some great fellowship)!

Paul is the youngest Council member of the PWMI, and as well as being the associate Pastor at the Hazelgrove Ministries in Stockport, he is a regular speaker at conferences in Israel (where he has just returned from Jerusalem), Europe, and America (where he is going this month).

One of the features of the Hazelgrove ministry is how many cd's, tapes, books, booklets, pamphlets, and songs they give out absolutely free of charge, as they attempt to spread the Word of God in these last days on earth in which we live. Needless to say, having ministered at Bristol on the Thursday, and Caldicot on the Friday, as well as at Newport on the Saturday, Paul's many cases of material and literature were empty at the end of his mini tour, which delighted him very much.

All of the local branches of the PWMI are now closing down until the new year, but there is already a good line up of visiting speakers booked for 2013, and among them you will find Paul Wilkinson again when he will be taking the meetings at Swindon on Feb 14th, and Swansea on March 9th.

The Pontypridd branch will be the first gathering to swing back into action in the new year on Jan 19th when they have the highly respected Pastor David Moore from Stoke, where he will speak on "WHY I BELIEVE IN A PRE-TRIBULATIONAL RAPTURE". This will be closely followed in February when Brian Gemmell from York, will be undertaking a mini tour of Merthyr, Pontypool, Bassaleg, and Newport from the 14th through to the 17th with his usual in-depth analysis of prophetic events, and an up to date understanding of the situation in the Middle East.

Caldicot have their first meeting on Feb 22nd with Bryan Sheldon, Newport follow on March 15th with Pastor Steve Lloyd from Bedford, and Bristol return to action on March 21st with Jon Ikin from Bath. For a full list of the speakers already booked through the Spring and the early Summer, please go to the top right hand side of this blog where you will find quite a long list!

Maranatha Blessings To You All, Neville.

BBC’s Jon Donnison Tweets malicious fauxtography
Among the recent Tweets on the BBC Gaza correspondent Jon Donnison’s Twitter timeline we find this:
For the Twitter uninitiated, Donnison is retweeting to his 7,971 followers a Tweet by one Hazem Balousha – a Palestinian ‘journalist and social activist’ – including a picture titled “Pain in Gaza”, to which Donnison adds his own commentary – “Heartbreaking”.
The picture is indeed heartbreaking:
Except  – as has already been pointed out to Donnison – it does not come from Gaza.
Here is the original picture:
Up to now, it may have been possible to put down Jon Donnison’s frequently problematic reporting to a lack of knowledge and understanding of the region.
However, his decision to promote deliberate misinformation – either knowingly or as a result of a complete failure to check facts –
indicates that he is not merely naïve.  Donnison has rendered himself no longer fit for the purpose of accurate and impartial reporting from the Middle East in accordance with the BBC’s legal obligations.
Update:
This is just in:
Sorry – that is nowhere near sufficient.

EVEN ROCKETS FROM EGYPT ARE NOW HITTING ISRAEL!! WHAT NEXT??

Report: Rockets Fired From Egypt Have Hit Israel

By

BY DANIEL HALPER – “Two major Israeli newspapers are reporting that rockets fired from Egypt have hit Israel.
‘Terrorists in the Sinai Peninsula launched rockets into Israel Friday night,’ reports the Jerusalem Post. ‘The rockets fell near an Israeli village on the southern border, causing some damage, but no injuries.’
The Israeli daily Haaretz reports, ’Rockets fired from direction of Egypt toward Eshkol Regional Council.’
It appears no damage was reported in connection with the rocket fire from Egypt. Earlier today, the Egyptian prime minister visited Gaza to express solidarity with the Palestinians there.
This new front comes a day after a rocket landed near Tel Aviv and on the same day Israel’s capital Jerusalem was the target of rocket fire. Those attacks were courtesy of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
‘After Tel Aviv metropolitan area, capital under fire too: An air raid siren was sounded in Jerusalem and surrounding communities early Friday evening. After residents reported hearing blast sounds, security forces confirmed that one rocket had landed in the Gush Etzion area near a Palestinian village,’ Ynet reports.
‘There were no reports of injuries or damage. This was the first air raid siren sounded in the area since the IDF launched Operation Pillar of Defense in the Gaza Strip. Air raid sirens were sounded in southern communities throughout the day and a barrage of missiles hit the area.’” Source – The Weekly Standard.

"THE WEEK AT A GLANCE" BY THE MARVELLOUS DEBKA REVIEW TEAM.

Summary of DEBKA Exclusives, November 16, 2012

November 9, 2012

•       At least 11,000 Syrian refugees flee in one day
Most poured into Turkey with children and dozens of wounded; others to Jordan and Lebanon. The 9,000 clambering over the barbed wire fence into Turkey were escaping fighting in Harem, in Syria’s northern Idlib and expected air raids on the northeastern town of Ras al-Ayn, which rebels seized from the Syrian army.
Earlier, a Turkish state-run agency reported a group of Syrian soldiers sought asylum, including two generals and 11 colonels.
UN officials warn that the unrelenting increases in violence and suffering in Syria would raise the numbers in need of humanitarian aid from 2.5 million to 4 million early next year. In recent weeks Kurds and Palestinians are being drawn into the fighting.

Iranian attack on US drone – payback for Khartoum bombing
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
09 Nov. Iranian Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi confirmed Nov. 9 that two Iranian SU-25 jet fighters had fired at an unarmed US MQ-Predator drone over the Persian Gulf the day before. DEBKAfile: In September, Tehran warned that US targets would be at risk if Israel struck Iranian interests. After an Iranian missile factory was bombed in Khartoum, Iran and Sudan pointed the finger at Israel. In consequence, on Nov. 1, Iranian fighters shot at – and missed – the US drone.
Iran takes it for granted that if Israel, if responsible for the Khartoum operation, could not have staged it without the knowledge of US Middle East commanders and those leading the joint US-Israeli war game taking place at the time.

•       Seventeen Turkish troops die in helicopter crash
Turkish Kurdish PKK separatists are suspected of downing the Turkish Sikorsky with an anti-air missile Saturday over the Pervari area inside the Iraq-Syria-Turkish border triangle. Ankara said later that bad weather conditions caused the crash. DEBKAfile: Syrian ruler Bashar Assad is believed to have armed the Kurdish PKK with anti-air missiles in revenge for the delivery of American-made Stingers to Syrian rebels. Last Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said: “We have verified information that thee are more than 50 Stingers in Syrian now.”
•       Iraq scraps $4 bn weapons deal with Russia
The Baghdad announcement cited graft concerns in Moscow for cancelling a transaction that would have made Russia Iraq’s biggest arms supplier after the US.

Another Palestinian missile barrage after injuring 4 IDF soldiers
DEBKAfile Special Report
10 Nov. Violence erupted from the Gaza Strip Saturday night, Nov. 10, with a rocket attack on an IDF jeep that injured four Israeli soldiers – one critically, two in moderate condition. This time, Hamas’s subcontractor was the Palestinian Popular Front. After Israeli tanks and helicopters fired back, the Palestinians loosed rockets against the Eshkol and Shear Hanegev districts, followed by Grads against Ashkelon, Ashdod and further north, to Gan Yavneh. This was the eighth Palestinian barrage in less than a month.

November 11, 2012

•       Palestinians fire 116 rockets in 24 hours. IDF on Syrian border alert
Another 10 missiles hit Eshkol district Sunday night. After the Palestinians fired 106 rockets from Gaza in 24 hours, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz said the Gaza situation cannot go on and the IDF must make a “real response.” Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that Israel is ready to strike harder.
After two Grad missiles against his town were intercepted by Iron Dome, Beersheba Mayor Rubik Danilovich said it is “unthinkable for a million civilians to be held hostage to terror. The South is the victim of a war of attrition and the government must bring it to a halt.”

Egypt bids for Gaza truce
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
11 Nov. The Palestinian missile offensive from Gaza was still going strong Sunday night, Nov. 11, after two days and more than 110 rockets. One of its driving forces, DEBKAfile reports, is Hamas’s inability to bring all the main terroristic organizations under a single operational command. The Jihad Islami, the Salafis and the Popular Front preserve their independence of action. Another is their belief that Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will avoid a major IDF operation. But he has another kind of pressure to consider. The million-strong constituency of southern Israel may not let him get away with a temporary, fragile stoppage of the rockets that make their lives unbearable. They may make him pay for inaction at the ballot-box.

November 12, 2012

•       No letup in rocket fire from Gaza
Monday evening, Day 3 of the Palestinian missile offensive from Gaza, five Grad missiles were fired at Beersheba, Netivot and Ofakim. Two were intercepted by Iron Dome.  No casualties.
•       Gaza rockets target Ashkelon, Eshkol after Netivot
Early Monday, Day 3 of the Palestinian missile offensive from Gaza, a Grad rocket wrecked a house in Netivot, causing 26 shock victims. Next came three mortar shells exploding on empty ground in the Eshkol district and 5 rockets aimed at Ashkelon, the town and industrial area. Two were intercepted by Iron Dome. Popular clamor is building up on the government to launch a major operation against Palestinian terror from Gaza.

Assad tests IDF responses on Golan
DEBKAfile Special Report
12 Nov. Another shell landed near an Israeli position on the Golan Monday, Nov. 12, less than 24 hours after Damascus promised to silence the mortar battery responsible for “stray shells.” The promise came after Israel fired a Tamuz guided missile into Syria as a warning shot.  Monday, Israeli tank fire finally knocked out the Syrian mortar battery. DEBKAfile: Bashar Assad is provoking Israel to test its resolve in the light of the Netanyahu government’s restraint against heavy Palestinian missiles from Gaza.
While Israeli officials and IDF spokesmen insist that the two fronts are not connected, DEBKAfile’s intelligence sources report that the restraint exhibited by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak thus far risks landing Israel in really hot water on two if not three violent fronts.

Salafists receive more Grads through Sinai tunnels
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
12 Nov. Most Palestinians groups met in Gaza City Monday night, Nov. 12, to approve a ceasefire after a three-day, 150-rocket assault on Israel. But the Salafists stayed away, instead firing 5 heavy Grad rockets against Netivot, Beersheba and Ofakim and taking delivery of a fresh load of Grads through the Sinai tunnels, assisted by Tehran’s proxy, Jihad Islam.

•       Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood: Israel must be stopped attacking Gaza

Once called Osama bin Laden’s right hand man in Europe, the fire-eating preacher has fought his extradition for seven years.
•       Israeli election update: Two Labor veterans bury hatchet to challenge Yachimovitch
Former Histadrut trade unions leader Amir Peretz and incumbent Ofer Eini have buried a six-year old hatchet to lead the party veterans’ challenge against the new Labor party leader Shelly Yachimovitch and her faction in the Nov. 29 primaries. Peretz and Eini are both hardened campaigners with strong grass roots followings in the trade unions, the kibbutz and moshav movements and among Israeli Arabs and Druzes - the Labor party’s traditional rank and file. Yachimovich has flooded the top ranks with new faces to reinvigorate the waning party. Israelis go to the polls Jan. 22, 2013.

Iran’s new interceptor:  rejoinder for US-Israeli air defense drill
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
13 Nov. Iran’s air defense chief Gen. Farzad Esmaili boasted Tuesday, Nov. 12, that the “massive” ongoing military exercise was “a strong slap to those countries that threaten [us].”
DEBKAfile: The six-day Iranian air defense drill is Tehran’s answer to the joint US-Israeli maneuver for practicing defenses against an Iranian or Syrian ballistic missile attack on Israel. Patriot anti-missile launches made from Palmachim Monday tested US-Israel ability to lock onto Iranian cruise missiles coming from the Mediterranean from Iranian military or civilian vessels or Hizballah commando speedboats.

The brittle situation on Israel’s Golan border with Syria brought Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and members of the IDF high command to the Northern Command Wednesday.
•       Israeli ambassador exits Cairo with family
Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi’s office announced Wednesday night the recall of his ambassador from Tel Aviv just weeks after he presented his credentials and demanded an urgent UN Security Council meeting to discuss “Israeli aggression.”
President Morsi did not deliver a statement on the Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip although it was scheduled.

Netanyahu and Barak progress report on Gaza operation
DEBKAfile Special Report
14 Nov. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu reported that the first waves of Israeli air strikes over Gaza Wednesday had seriously damaged the Hamas terrorists’ ability to conduct missile attacks on central Israel. . “We are set to expand our counter-terror operation if necessary.” He said. Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that most of Hamas’s Fajr rockets and their silos had been hit as well as many other strategic sites. Operation Pillar of Cloud had four objectives, said Barak: restoring Israel’s deterrence; seriously degrading the terrorists’ rocket arsenal; harming their leaders and restoring peace to southern Israel.
The operation started with a targeted air strike killing Ahmed Jabari, 52, commander of Hamas’s military arm, Ezz e-din al-Qassam, a key figure in the radical Palestinian Hamas movement. He was caught driving in a black Mercedes in Gaza City. Hamas declared: We are at war. Hamas’ southern sector commander, Raad al-Atar, who was mistakenly reported killed, said his organization was able to hit Tel Aviv and further north. He was referring to the Fajr-5 rockets whose range in 75 kilometers.
Southern Israeli was placed on high alert and schools closed as the first rockets hit Ashkelon and Eshkol.

Egypt recalls envoy. Iron Dome intercepts 17 out of 50 rockets
DEBKAfile Special Report
14 Nov. The Palestinians fired 50 rockets from Gaza Wednesday night, Nov. 14 - of which Iron Dome intercepted 17 - after an Israeli air assault killed the Hamas military chief Ahmed Jabari and destroyed dozens of missile sites. The rockets were fired at Beersheba, Ashdod and Eshkol. None caused casualties. Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi did not issue a statement on the Israeli operation, but recalled his ambassador from Tel Aviv and said Cairo would ask the UN Security Council to stop “Israeli aggression.”
The Israeli Navy joined the air force in striking Palestinian missile sites in southern Gaza from the sea.
Locations within 40 kilometers range of the Gaza Strip were advised to stand ready to take rocket attacks from Gaza until the Operation Pillar of Cloud was over.

•       Obama calls Netanyahu, Morsi
The White House said the US president reiterated American support for Israel’s right to self-defense from rocket attacks against its civilians and urged Israel to make every effort to avoid civilian casualties in its response.
•       UN Security Council ends without resolution
The closed door session called by Egypt broke up early Thursday without passing any resolution or issuing a statement. US Ambassador Susan Rice spoke out for Israel’s right to self-defense against multiple missile attacks on civilians. The Arab motion of condemnation was defeated.

Tel Aviv hit by three Gaza missiles. Israel calls up 30,000 reservists
DEBKAfile Special Report
15 Nov. The first Palestinian missile reached the Tel Aviv conurbation, Gush Dan, Thursday night, Nov. 15, shortly after a long-range missile was confirmed to have exploded in Rishon Lezion southeast of Tel Aviv and sirens sounded in outlying towns of Holon, Ness Ziona, Gan Raveh and Beer Yacov. None have yet reported casualties or damage. The IDF spokesmen reported that units of the elite paratroop and Givati Brigades were mustering outside the Gaza Strip. Defense Minister Ehud Barak later announced the call-up of 30,000 reservists, raising the possibility of an imminent Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip.
During the day, the first three Israelis were killed by a rocket hitting Kiryat Malachi for the first time. Several hundred rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip after Israel embarked on the Pillar of Cloud operation Wednesday evening, Nov. 14, to wipe out Palestinian missile capabilities once and for all. Many incoming rockets were intercepted by Iron Dome.

First missile siren in Jerusalem after two rockets explode in Tel Aviv
Friday afternoon, a missile siren was heard in Jerusalem after two rockets landed in Tel Aviv. It was also heard in outlying towns: Mevaseret Zion, Motza Ilit, Beitar Ilit, Kibbutz Maaleh Hahamisha, Ora and Har Adar. Hamas claimed to have fire a “M75” rocket. First indication that a rocket landed north of Jerusalem. No casualties reported. Jerusalem is roughly 85 kilometers from the Gaza Strip.
Two long-range Fajr-5 missiles exploded Friday, Nov. 16 on open ground in and around Tel Aviv without causing casualties or damage. Warning sirens sounded first. Three civilians were injured in the Eshkol district in the continuous Palestinian rocket fire raking southern towns and villages from early Friday morning. Iron Dome intercepted some missiles before they hit Beersheba, Ashdod and Ashkelon in salvoes. Israeli ground forces continue to build up on the Gaza border awaiting government orders to go in.

MELANIE PHILLIPS ON ISRAEL'S RIGHT TO DEFEND ITSELF FROM THE ROCKETS FROM HAMAS!

Israel defends itself against hundreds of rocket attacks. Tut-tut!

Published in: Melanie's blog

So here we go again. In the four days from Saturday until yesterday, Islamic terrorists under the Hamas umbrella fired more than 120 rockets from Gaza at Israeli civilians, along with a number of mortar shells. Some hit civilian homes and factories; some civilians were lightly wounded and others treated for shock.  Some million or so inhabitants of southern Israel have been under siege from such attacks for years, with air raid sirens giving people just a few seconds to find shelter. If there weren’t so many shelters, there would be more casualties.
None of this has caused the slightest concern in Britain or the west. The rocket attacks have barely been reported. But today, Israel finally took action. In a targeted drone strike on Gaza it killed Ahmed Jabari, the leader of Hamas’s military wing and second-in-command of the Iranian proxy al-Qassam Brigades, a man who was  linked to hundreds of terror operations and human bomb attacks over several decades, and his second-in-command, Raed Al Attar.
If you look at the video footage of the strike, you can see the care the Israelis took to avoid other casualties, waiting until the terror commanders’ car had passed other traffic before striking it.
Rocket attacks on Israelis are not news; Israeli military action to defend Israel against such attacks is. Suddenly, media indifference has been transformed into media hyperactivity. And in the eyes of the British media and foreign office Israel is at fault; astoundingly, it is apparently Israel which is responsible for inflaming the situation, not the Palestinians. Never mind the 120 rockets in four days or the 50 further rockets this evening, including 17 Grads fired at the city of Beersheva; or that since the beginning of 2011, 1,100 rocket have been fired on Israeli targets, 797since the beginning of this year; or that a staggering 5274 rockets have been fired from Gaza at southern  Israel since 2006 (what’s that – you had absolutely no idea about the scale of these attacks? Of course not – the British media haven’t bothered to report them. Didn’t you know? Israeli victims don’t count – especially when not enough of them actually die to meet the British definition of ‘proportionality’).
Never mind the fact that this current round of violence started when an Israeli Defence Force jeep was attacked by an anti-tank missile, wounding four IDF soldiers. Never mind that Hamas have hidden rocket launchers under civilian homes in Gaza, thus once again turning the Palestinian population into human shields.
As The Commentator notes, the Foreign Office tweeted:
‘We continue to call on all sides to exercise restraint to prevent a dangerous escalation that would be in no one’s interests. #Gaza
while
‘the Guardian glowingly quoted the BBC's Wyre Davies as calling the Israeli attack “a massive escalation of the situation around Gaza”’.
So let’s get this clear: in the mindset of the BBC and Foreign Office, 120-plus rockets in four days is not an escalation of violence or attempted mass murder; but a targeted strike to kill two individuals who have been organising such attacks, in order to prevent them from organising any more, is an escalation. What kind of hideously warped perspective is this?
Israeli forces are also targeting terrorist weapons stockpiles in Gaza; it has been reported that the Israeli Air Force struck a suspected stockpile of advanced Fajr 5 missiles smuggled into Gaza from Iran. Doubtless the BBC and Foreign Office think that Iran’s involvement in smuggling in such missiles aimed at murdering civilians is not an escalation of hostilities -- but destroying these missiles and thus protecting innocent people from being murdered is.
There are occasional oases of decency in this desert of moral bankruptcy: here is the BBC, for example, giving Jonathan Sacerdoti, Director of the Institute for Middle Eastern Democracy, the opportunity to put the situation into its proper context -- and to make a splendid job of it.
But in general it’s the same old story, I’m afraid: as far as much of the British media and wretched Foreign Office are concerned, Israel is the only country on earth which is not entitled to defend its people against attack. Does anyone think that if Britain had sustained a rocket barrage of 120 rockets in four days, let alone nearly 800 in a year or more than 5000 in six years, it would not have been at war long ago? But in the British establishment mind, Israel can never be a victim, only an aggressor. In the British official mind, Jews cannot be allowed to kill their attackers in order to defend their own people; the proper ‘proportionate’ response, it would appear, is for lots of Jews to die.
Tonight Israeli sons, husbands and fathers are being called up from the reserves to defend their country once again. They are being summoned from their dread-stricken families to place themselves in harm’s way because a mob of genocidal Jew-hating fanatics has been allowed by an indifferent world to amass lethal force to realise their infernal aim of destroying Israel and the Jewish people. Meanwhile, so-called civilised Britain totally ignores not just the rocket attacks but the deranged Judeophobia and the terrible echoes from history -- and instead looks down its nose at the putative victims, and tut-tuts that they are ‘escalating’ the situation by daring to defend themselves.
It is a shameful, shocking and disgusting response, and I’m afraid it is going to get worse.
