REVIEW OF ALAN FRANKLIN'S SPLENDID MINI TOUR OF SWINDON, EBBW VALE, AND NEWPORT.

It is always fantastic to have Alan Frankin from Fleet in Hampshire minister to the saints in our area. He is an absolute mine of information from his time as a journalist, an owner of his own newspaper, a correspondent in the EU at Brussells, and as the co-founder, with his wife Pat,  of the very informative website at www.thefreepressonline.co.uk.

He is one of the best "end times" speakers on the UK circuit, as well as travelling often to the USA and Israel to distribute his wealth of insight and knowledge. He is a very highly respected  speaker, and has often appeared on Christian Television. This very Godly man spoke four times in our area last week, and as usual he was bang up to date with prophetic events in the world today, and particularly the middle east. His talks were quite rivetting, and the Q&A sessions which followed were of real interest and passion to those who attended.

Alan's first stop on his mini tour of our area was at the Swindon branch of the PWMI on Thursday, the 20th September, where he spoke on "CULTS AND ISMS - TRUE OR FALSE?"  for over two hours! Alan's description of his talk was: "The powerpoint presentation focused on end times deceptions, false faiths and isms - to show how they are contradicted by the Bible". There was a good attendance at The Storehouse Fellowship, in Gorse Hill, Swindon, and the host Tony McLellan was very encouraged by the turn-out and of the general response from what is normally considered to be a very barren place in Wiltshire when it comes to hearing "end times teaching". 

The following day, Alan and Pat crossed over the Severn Bridge into South Wales to speak at the Ebbw Vale branch of the PWMI on the Friday evening, when his theme was the same "CULTS AND ISMS - TRUE OR FALSE?" presentation but with a very different approach. The cults are dramatically on the rise in these latter days, he stated, and three of the biggest are the Catholic Church, The Mormons, and The Seventh Day Adventists. All cults have "to work for their salvation" and nearly all of them deny the deity of both the Lord Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit, as Satan continues to deceive many people (including shallow Christians) as he weaves his very nasty web of deceit and destruction down the road to perdition! Nearly fifty saints of the Lord gathered to hear this great powerpoint presentation, and although it went on for two hours, no one left early such was the intensity and integrity of the talk. 

The following day, on Saturday the 22nd September, Alan spoke twice at the Newport branch of the PWMI at the YMCA, where he ministered firstly on "ARE YOU READY FOR THE RAPTURE?" Here Alan looked at the Biblical evidence for a pre-tribulational Rapture of the Church to Heavenly Glory, and backed up his case by examining types, prophecies, The Jewish Feasts, and much more to prove his argument quite conclusively. Being a pre-millennial organisation of the same belief, the PWMI supporters always welcome this approach, and Alan went on to show the weakness of the cases of the mid-trib, the post-trib, and the pan-trib positions, with many fallacies in their teachings and stances. 

His second powerpoint presentation was titled "JERUSALEM, THE FUTURE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD", where he gave a fascinating overview of King David's City, its 3000 year history, and then he looked ahead to the time when the Lord Jesus Christ will return to earth to rule and reign from the new capital of our planet, namely JERUSALEM, and not New York, London, or Brussells!! The Rapture will take place before Christ's Return to earth, but when we return with Him as his Chosen Bride and His Church, The Body Of Christ, we will come with Him in victorious fashion to rule with Him from God's ancient chosen capital of the world in Jerusalem.

These powerful presentations were fully illustrated, and packed with information you will not hear in your local church. They are all available from Alan from his superb website at www.thefreepressonline.co.uk. It is vital that we get our end time message out to a society, both Christian and secular, who are asleep to what is happening around them in the world today, and how near the Rapture and The Second Coming Of Christ are.

Alan certainly did this, and he encouraged us all to be vigilant, ever studious of our Bibles, and to watch for the signs of the times leading up to the imminent Rapture of the Church. He left with our prayers and blessings, to catch a ferry that night to go to other NEWPORT, in the Isle of Wight to minister there. He is teaching in October during his preaching tour of the USA. Brian Gemmell is also teaching in a different part of America in October, so please remember these great servants of the Lord in your prayers and ask Him for protection, leading, guidance, anointing, and blessing of these lovely men of God..

Gog Of Magog And The Great Earthquake

By Joel Richardson – “In several previous articles, I’ve set forth various reasons why we should recognize ‘Gog’ of Ezekiel 38,39 to be one and the same with the Antichrist/Beast of other antichristic prophecies. I have also addressed and dispelled some of the most common arguments against this view. In this article, I will detail yet another significant reason why Gog must be the Antichrist and why the Battle of Gog of Magog can only conclude at the return of Jesus.
Among the many events that conclude the Battle of Gog and Magog, one major event is ‘a great earthquake’ in the land of Israel. The earthquake will be so great that all creatures and mankind ‘who are on the face of the earth’ will tremble in fear:

It will come about on that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel… there will surely be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. The fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all the creeping things that creep on the earth, and all the men who are on the face of the earth will shake at My presence; the mountains also will be thrown down, the steep pathways will collapse and every wall will fall to the ground. —Ezekiel 38:18-20

Many seem to miss the fact that this earthquake will result in the mountains of Israel being ‘thrown down’. Beyond this, ‘every wall will fall to the ground’. We’ll come back to this issue of the mountains and walls collapsing, but first, let’s briefly consider a few other significant Biblical passages that also speak of:
1.) A massive eschatological invasion of Israel
2.) A divine deliverance
3.) A massive earthquake that brings the invasion to an end
In Isaiah 29, the LORD warns Jerusalem, called here ‘Ariel’, that He will bring armies against her:

Yet I will besiege Ariel; she will mourn and lament, she will be to me like an altar hearth. I will encamp against you all around; I will encircle you with towers and set up my siege works against you. —Isaiah 29:2-3

But though it is the LORD Himself who brings these armies against Ariel, He also promises to destroy them with both a personal visit, as well as with a mighty earthquake:

But your many enemies will become like fine dust, the ruthless hordes like blown chaff. Suddenly, in an instant, the LORD Almighty will come with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with windstorm and tempest and flames of a devouring fire. Then the hordes of all the nations that fight against Ariel, that attack her and her fortress and besiege her, will be as it is with a dream, with a vision in the night…. So will it be with the hordes of all the nations that fight against Mount Zion. —Isaiah 29:5-8

In another famous end time passage, we see the same pattern again repeated. The LORD promises to gather the surrounding gentile nations against Jerusalem. And once again, he responds with a personal visit and a great earthquake.

I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it… Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle. On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him. —Zechariah 14:2-5

So we see that the themes of invading hordes, a corresponding great earthquake and a divine deliverance of the people of Israel are commonly repeated themes among these passages that speak of the return of Jesus. It might be quite logical then, to assume that because Ezekiel’s oracle perfectly mirrors all of these elements, it is also speaking of the return of Jesus. Many argue however, that Ezekiel’s invasion, the mighty earthquake, and the accompanying deliverance, precede these other passages by several years.
But here is where the popular view runs into yet another insurmountable problem. For as we have already seen, the great earthquake of Ezekiel’s oracle results in all of the mountains in Israel being thrown down. But if this is the case, then how can it be that in the middle of the tribulation, Jesus warns the inhabitants of Jerusalem and Judea to flee to the mountains:

“So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation, spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. —Matthew 24:15-16

How can Jesus tell people to flee to mountains which, according to the popular view, no longer even exist? If Ezekiel’s prophecy is to have happened a few, or even several years prior, resulting in the mountains of Israel all falling down, how can Jesus still be speaking of near-by mountains, and telling his people to flee to them? For students of the Scriptures who take the words of the Bible literally, there are really only two options; either Ezekiel’s earthquake comes sometime after the middle of the tribulation, or Jesus didn’t know what He was talking about. I’m going with Ezekiel’s earthquake taking place at the conclusion of the tribulation.
But as much as this causes an insurmountable mountain of a problem for the popular view which tries to cast Gog and Antichrist as two different characters, there is yet another powerful passage in the Book of Revelation which speaks of the final conclusion of the Great Tribulation. Once again, there is the gathering of the gentiles, there is a great earthquake which results in the cities of the earth being destroyed, as well as the mountains being removed:

Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, “It is done!” Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since man has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake. The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed… Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. —Revelation 16:16-20

In the following chart, consider the dramatic similarities between Ezekiel’s oracle and John’s description of the Battle of Armageddon:

Now, consider the following timelines, where the popular view is contrasted with what I refer to as ‘the consistent view’:
The Popular View

In the timeline above, the Battle of Gog of Magog concludes either just before or just after the beginning of the final seven years. The problem with this view should be clear. At the conclusion of the Battle of Gog of Magog, there is a massive earthquake whereby all of the mountains will be ‘thrown down’ or ‘fall down’. If this is the case, how then could Jesus warn the inhabitants of Jerusalem, several years later, to flee to the mountains? This would be impossible. And how could another earthquake level the mountains a second time during the ‘great earthquake’ that takes place at the return of Jesus? Obviously, the popular view has an insurmountable contradiction with Scripture on this point.
The Consistent View

Now consider the alternative consistent view. Here, we see that because Gog of Magog and the Battle of Armageddon are seen as concluding at the same time, at the return of Jesus, there is no contradiction concerning the mountains being leveled. Neither is there any contradiction with the commandment of Jesus to flee to the mountains at the mid-point of the tribulation.
The conclusion is simple. Ezekiel was simply speaking of the same invasion, great earthquake and divine intervention that all of the other prophets were speaking of. Divorcing Ezekiel’s prophesied invasion from Isaiah’s, Zechariah’s and John the Apostle’s prophesied invasion simply cannot be reconciled with Scripture.” Source – Joel’s Trumpet.

The waving of black flags in the above photo really caught my attention while reading this news story and here is why.

(Excerpt from Chapter 4. The Mahdi: Islam’s Awaited Messiah)

The Mahdi’s ascendancy to power is said to be preceded by an army from the east who will be carrying black flags or banners of war.  Sheikh Kabbani states: Hadith indicate that black flags coming from the area of Khorasan will signify the appearance of the Mahdi is nigh.  Khorasan is in todays Iran, and some scholars have said that this hadith means when the black flags appear from Central Asia, i.e. in the direction of Khorasan, then the appearance of the Mahdi is imminent. ¹⁷

Another tradition states that: The Messenger of Allah said: The black banners will come from the East and their hearts will be as firm as iron.  Whoever hears of them should join them and give allegiance, even if it means crawling across snow. ¹⁸

In Islam there are two flags.  One is white and one is black.  Written across both flags in Arabic are the words, “There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his Messenger”.  The white flag is called Al-Liwaa and serves as the sign for the leader of the Muslim army and is the flag of the Islamic State.  The black flag is called Ar-Raya and is used by the Muslim army. It is also called the flag of jihad, and is carried into battle.  One flag is governmental and the other is a military flag. ¹⁹ When Muhammad returned to his home city of Mecca after being exiled for eight years, he returned as a conqueror. With him were ten thousand Muslim soldiers.  They carried with them black flags.  On the flags was one word written in Arabic: punishment. ²⁰ 

I was once talking to a group of young Muslim men and asking them some questions.  I asked them if the obvious superior militaries of America and Israel compared to the militaries of any Islamic nations were a source of difficulty for many Muslims.  One of these men then became very angry at my question and snapped out, “You Americans and Zionists better get ready, because the black flags are coming!”  At the time, I had no idea what he was talking about.  Later I learned the meaning.

 

THE CONQUERING OF ISRAEL 

Islamic tradition pictures the Mahdi as joining with the army of Muslim warriors carrying black flags.  The Mahdi will then lead this army to Israel and re-conquer it for Islam.  The Jews will be slaughtered until very few remain and Jerusalem will become the location of the Mahdi’s rule over the Earth. 
Rasulullah [Muhammad] said: “Armies carrying black flags will come from Khurasan. No power will be able to stop them and they will finally reach Eela (Baitul Maqdas in Jerusalem) where they will erect their flags.” ²¹
It is important to note here the reference above to “Baitul Maqdas”.  In Arabic this means “the holy house”.  This is referring to the Dome of the Rock Mosque and is located on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. 
In a particularly venomous manner, Egyptian authors, Muhammad ibn Izzat and Muhammd ‘Arif comment on the above tradition:

The Mahdi will be victorious and eradicate those pigs and dogs and the idols of this time so that there will once more be a caliphate based on prophethood as the hadith states… Jerusalem will be the location of the rightly guided caliphate and the center of Islamic rule, which will be headed by Imam al-Mahdi… That will abolish the leadership of the Jews… and put an end to the domination of the Satans who spit evil into people and cause corruption in the earth, making them slaves of false idols and ruling the world by laws other than the Shari’a [Islamic Law] of the Lord of the worlds. (Emphasis mine) ²²

There is a very famous tradition that is often quoted throughout the Islamic world that speaks of the Mahdi’s military campaign against Israel.  The tradition is both sickening and very sobering:
The Prophet said… The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him… (Emphasis mine) ²³

Are these Islamic black flags the banner Isaiah prophesied about in the following passage concerning the last days?  I have not yet ruled it out as I fully believe the Bible, God’s written Word, gives us insight and understanding for everything that is going on today.

Isaiah 13:1-9
1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.
2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.
3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.
4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.
5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.
6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.
7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt:
8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.
9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

Yet while the black Islamic banner of jihad waves, God never leaves His people without hope and in the following passage, directed to the nation of Israel in the last days, God tells us He has a banner of His own that will be displayed over them that fear Him!

Psalm 60:1-5
1 O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.
2 Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
3 Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.
4 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
5 That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.

The word banner is only recorded three times in the King James Bible.  This last occurrence describes God’s banner over the Bride of Christ.

Song of Solomon 2:4
He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.

Now read all three passages together as the understanding we get regarding what is presently playing out before our eyes in the Middle East is truly amazing!

• When Islam waves its black flags in war (Isaiah 13:2)
  
• Israel begins to call out to God to save them (Psalm 60:4)
  
• The bride is brought (caught up) to God’s banqueting house (Song of Solomon 2:4)

Wow!  And to think this little impromptu Bible study came about just from reading a news article.  God is so faithful and gracious to give us understanding regarding current events!  Keep looking up!

The mission statement of Operation Exodus is "to be an instrument of the Lord, to encourage and help the Jewish people return to the land of Israel, from the land of the north and all the nations, and to proclaim God's Kingdom purposes for their return".

SOME CHRISTIAN HUMOUR OUT OF CHURCH LEAFLETS AND BULLETINS!

Have a little giggle at some of these humourous Christian "out-takes" from Church Bulletins!

Thank goodness for dear old church ladies with word processors. These sentences actually appeared in church bulletins or were announced in church services. For some reason, typos are funnier coming from Church.

Bertha Belch, a missionary from Africa, will be speaking tonight at Calvary Methodist. Come hear Bertha Belch all the way from Africa.

The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals. The ladies of the Church have cast off clothing of every kind. They may be seen in the basement on Friday afternoon.

The sermon this morning: "Jesus Walks on the Water." The sermon tonight: "Searching for Jesus."

Our youth basketball team is back in action Wednesday at 8pm in their Creation Hall. Come out and watch us kill Christ the King.

Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Don't forget your husbands.

Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community. Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say "Hell" to someone who doesn't care much about you.

Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help.

For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs.

Barbara remains in the hospital and needs blood donors for more transfusions. She is also having trouble sleeping, and requests tapes of Pastor Jack's sermons.

Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days.

A bean supper will be held on Tuesday evening in the church hall. Music will follow.

At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be "What Is Hell? "Come early and listen to our choir practice.

Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.

Scouts are saving aluminum cans, bottles and other items to be recycled. Proceeds will be used to cripple children.

Please place your donation in the envelope along with the deceased person you want remembered.

Attend, and you will hear an excellent speaker and heave a healthy lunch. The church will host an evening of fine dining, super entertainment and gracious hostility.

Potluck supper Sunday at 5:00pm - prayer and medication to follow.

This evening at 7pm, there will be a hymn singing in the park across from the Church. Bring a blanket and come prepared to sin.

Ladies' Bible Study will be held Thursday morning at 10am. All ladies are invited to lunch in the Fellowship Hall after the B. S. is done.

The pastor would appreciate it if the ladies of the congregation would lend him their electric girdles for the pancake breakfast next Sunday.

Low Self Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7pm. Please use the back door.

The eighth-graders will be presenting Shakespeare's Hamlet in the Church basement Friday at 7pm. The congregation is invited to attend this tragedy.

Weight Watchers will meet at 7pm at the First Presbyterian Church. Please use large double door at the side entrance.

Intel From Israel on Whats getting set to Happen in the Middle East

My brother and his family live in Jerusalem - he is a minister - his office is close to one of Israel 's largest underground military bases.

He called me last night which is very unusual - usually it is email.

He called to tell me that he is sending his family back to the US immediately due to what he is seeing happen within the last week and what he is being told by his military contacts in both the Israel and US military.

He said he is seeing with his own eyes military movements the likes of which he has never seen in his 20+ years in Israel .

What he called a massive redeployment and protective tactics of forces is underway.

Over the last two days he has seen anti-aircraft missile deployments throughout the Jerusalem area including 3 mobile units that he can see from his office windows.

In addition, he has seen very large Israeli armored columns moving fast toward the Sinia where Egypt has now moved in Armor.

There are reports of the top military leaders meeting with Israel 's Sr. Rabi which is something that has happened preceding every prior military campaign.

His admonition is to watch carefully and pray for Israel and its people.

He is convinced that barring something extraordinary Israel will attack Iran - with or without the US - and very soon.

It is the belief in Israel that Obama does not stand with Israel but with the Arab countries.

He has told me before that Israel will saber rattle from time to time but that this time is very different from what he is seeing and hearing.
He was at the Wailing Wall 2 days ago and there were hundreds of IDF soldiers there. As he was leaving he passed at least 20 military buses full of soldiers in route to the wall.

He has never seen this before either.

My brother is not an alarmist by any means.

When he talks like this it gets my attention for sure and usually I find he knows more than he shares.

There are reports that Israel is asking Obama to come to Israel immediately but they are being answered with silence.

My opinion is that I see the making of the perfect storm.

Commentary In 1973, US intelligence had broken the Russian code and knew of the coming Yom Kippur war. At the time, Russia and Egypt were allies, so the US was able to tell the war was coming. Henry Kissinger told Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir that the war was coming just two hours before it started. Israel did not have time to mobilize and was left defenseless. President Nixon said he would back Israel if the war did not go well. The war did not go well and Israel was about to be overrun by both Egyptian and Syrian forces. Israel was pleading for help, but Nixon did nothing for Israel while Kissinger, who is a secular Jew,  said the following: “Let them (the Israelis) bleed a bit", [presumably, then they would be more willing to surrender their Land for Peace]“. He was President Nixon's Chief of Staff, and he took it upon himself to personally release vast quantities of war material to Israel. He literally had weapons stripped from US warehouses and shipped directly to Israel. It was the American TOW missiles, which stopped the Egyptian tanks that were on the way to Tel Aviv and turned the war in favor of Israel. Out came pallets of artillery shells, TOW missiles and more which were loaded on Galaxy cargo aircraft. Those Galaxies headed toward Israel.  ... Former MK Tzachi Hanegbi, considered a close associate of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, tells Likud conference he believes a decision on Iran will be made within the next 50 days.

Former Likud and Kadima member Tzachi Hanegbi said this week that he believed the fate of Israel's conflict with Iran will be decided within the next 50 days. Hanegbi, who is considered a confidant of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, later told Israel Hayom the assessment was his own and not based on specific information disclosed to him.

"We are entering the most fateful 50 days Israel has faced since, perhaps, the similarly fateful days prior to the Yom Kippur War," Hanegbi said at a Likud conference this week, as quoted by the Makor Rishon newspaper.

Hanegbi, who in the past served as chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee as well as minister in the Prime Minister’s Office in 2004 and Internal Security Minister in 2003, recently left the Kadima party and rejoined the Likud.

At the same conference, Hanegbi explained that any decision that will be made on whether or not to attack Iran would have to be "taken by someone with foresight, with historical vision, who comes from an ideological home. Today, when we talk about how we understand the dangers of the Iranian threat and understand that confrontation comes at a cost, it is because we want to spare our sons and grandsons from having to pay an intolerable price."

In an interview with Israel Hayom on Thursday, the former minister said that "the remarks I made were my interpretation of statements and analyses made by others in the media. They were not based on a conversation I had with the prime minister. Netanyahu does not consult with me on these issues and I am not, by definition of my position, privy to such information."

"I do have my own interpretation though, and I have no doubt that these are fateful days. Even a decision not to do anything [about Iran] is a fateful decision. I have no doubt that there will be a price to pay for any decision or indecision," Hanegbi said.

A spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office said he had no comment on Hanegbi's assessment.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said differences remain with the United States over Iran's disputed nuclear program, despite efforts by Israel and the U.S. to come to an agreement on the issue.

Barak told a meeting of his Independence party that "the clocks are ticking at a different pace" for the U.S. and Israel, suggesting disagreements remain on the timeline for any attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

"Israel reserves the right to make its own sovereign decisions. The U.S. respects that," he said. At the event, Barak also called a return to Israel's pre-1967 borders a "post-Zionist outlook."

Earlier this week, Israeli officials said the U.S. and Israel were working closely in hopes of getting the countries' positions in sync, holding close discussions with American officials over how to deal with Iran's nuclear program.

Barak, who spoke hours after meeting the U.S. Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. James A. Winnefeld, reiterated that Israel reserves the right to carry out a strike unilaterally. He added, however, that there was "no doubt" about Washington's "readiness to face the challenge on every level."

Israel believes time is running out to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, while the U.S. opposes any Israeli military action at the current time.

Israel and the U.S. both believe, however, that Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons. Tehran denies the allegations, and says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes like producing energy and medical isotopes.

Part of the dispute over timing is related to military capabilities. Israel's timeline for military action is shorter than that of the United States, which has far more powerful bunker-busting bombs at its disposal. Israel fears that the longer Iran is allowed to continue uninhibited with its nuclear program, the deeper underground the facilities will become, making them impenetrable to an Israeli attack.

Israel views a nuclear-armed Iran as an existential threat, citing Iranian calls for Israel's destruction, the country's development of missiles capable of striking the Jewish state, and Tehran's support for Islamic terror groups hostile to Israel, such as Hamas and Hezbollah.

Reiterating Russia's opposition to a military strike on Iran, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Thursday "We want to warn those who are no strangers to military solutions that an attack will lead to great damage and will be catastrophic to the region's stability.

It will also affect the security and economic welfare of the entire world. The act will have repercussions far beyond the Middle East."

REV COLIN LE NOURY AT THE BRISTOL, CALDICOT, AND PONTYPRIDD BRANCHES OF THE PWMI.

It is always good to welcome our National General Secretary of the PWMI, the Rev Colin Le Noury from Leyland in Lancashire to our area, and the month of September is particularly busy for him. He spoke at Bristol on the sixth, he ministered at Caldicot last night, then on the 29th he comes back again to officially open the new sixth branch of the PWMI in South Wales at Pontypridd.

Colin spoke on The Rapture and its imminence at Bristol on Thursday, his theme last night was titled "The Five Divine Judgements", and at Pontypridd later in the month he will be delivering a twin-message conference under the headings of "Economic Crisis-What Lies Ahead?", and "Bright New World".

Colin's usual splendid talk at Caldicot centred on God's five judgements, namely the judgement for sin; the judgement for believers; the judgement for Israel; the judgement for the gentile nations; and finally the judgement for unbelievers at the Great White Throne.

In a talk lasting over an hour, Colin took us through a large range of Scriptures from both the Old and New Testaments in quite a deep study of God's Word, with a strong emphasis on the judgement for Christians as the audience was comprised of believers.

He stressed that this was not a judgement for salvation (or loss of it) but for rewards for stewardship and service in His name, before going on to expound on the five crowns which are available for a faithful walk with the Lord. These are the crown of life (James 1:12); the crown of glory (1 Peter 5:2-4); the crown of rejoicing (1 Thess 2:19,20); the crown of righteousness (2 Tim 4:8); and the crown of incorruptibility (1 Cor 9:25).

Colin urged all believers to run the race, and to fight the fight in a faithful fashion, and to make sure that we end up as a "gold, silver, or precious stones" type of Christian rather than a "wood, hay, or stubble" type of believer suffering loss of reward as Paul puts it very clearly in 1 Corinthians 3: 11-15.

Although numbers were a little down on normal, mainly due to the holiday season still being in operation for a lot of people, there was a good feel to the meeting which was hosted as usual to their high standards by Tom and Pearl Jones. Colin's message was well received, and we are now looking forward to having him back in our area on the 29th when he opens the new Pontypridd branch.

IDF CHIEF SAYS THAT "WHOEVER THINKS HE CAN ELIMINATE ISRAEL AND TRY TO HARM OUR STATE WILL DISCOVER THE DEADLY FORCE OF THE IDF"!!

A reportedly large Hezbollah military drill held in southern Lebanon is part of an Iranian-orchestrated preparation for a confrontation with Israel, a senior Israeli security analyst said (as reported in the Jerusalem Post). Over 10,000 Hezbollah fighters participated in the terror organization’s largest military exercise to date last week, which included defensive tactics and “preparations to conquer the Upper Galilee,” Lebanese newspaper Al- Joumhouria reported Thursday morning.

“This is happening in full coordination with Iran,” said Dr. Ely Karmon, a senior research school at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya’s Institute for Counter-Terrorism. “In his last two speeches, [Hezbollah chief Hassan] Nasrallah indicated that he would join an Iranian counter-strike if Israel struck Iran’s nuclear program.” Karmon said Hezbollah was free to operate in the area of the Litani River in Lebanon.

While it had secret bases further south, nearer to the border with Israel, the presence of UNIFIL forces restricted Hezbollah somewhat, he added. “I assume the drill was held in the Litani area, where Hezbollah stationed new outposts. It bought land in the area from Sunnis and Christians to control the territory,” Karmon added.

Iran could also be preparing Hezbollah for the possibility of ordering it to launch a provocation against Israel to preempt an Israeli strike, Karmon said. “I wouldn’t belittle the claim that they will try and penetrate the Galilee. Even if they hold a small village for 24 hours, it would allow them to score points against the IDF,” the analyst added.

According to the report, some 2,000 elite Hezbollah fighters will continue training in Iran, a development that is indicative of the close cooperation between the two.
“Iran’s interest is Hezbollah’s interest. If Iran goes nuclear, Hezbollah can remain as a significant force,” Karmon said.

The training could also come in useful for the Iran-Assad- Hezbollah alliance, since Hezbollah can contribute a military force to defend a future Allawite enclave. The Allawite mini-state might be amalgamated to the Shi’itedominated region of the Bekaa Valley of northern Lebanon in the event that Syria collapses.
The force of 10,000 Hezbollah fighters could also be unleashed on the streets of Beirut if Sunnis rise up against Hezbollah, Karmon added.

Yoram Schweitzer, a researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies, echoed Karmon’s caution against dismissing Hezbollah’s threat of seizing sections of the Galilee.
“They can send small assault teams into the Galilee... while everyone is busy with attacks in Lebanon,” Schweitzer said. “They can try to plant their flag [in Israeli soil], as part of psychological warfare. I would suggest that the threat not be dismissed,” said Schweitzer, a former member of the intelligence community.
Schweitzer added that Hezbollah’s attempt to send a menacing message can also be understood as the product of a Hezbollah threatened by the rise of Sunni power in the region.
Last Friday, Nasrallah threatened to rain rockets onto Israel’s North as part of his public address on the Iranian-sponsored “al-Quds Day,” when Iranian leaders trumpet threats to annihilate Israel.
Nasrallah boasted of an ability to strike strategically sensitive sites in Israel, saying, “hitting these targets with a small number of rockets will turn... the lives of hundreds of thousands of Zionists to real hell, and we can talk about tens of thousands of dead,” he said.

Israeli security officials on Saturday tried to downplay the Pentagon's decision to significantly scale back its participation in a joint military exercise with Israel next month, but some government officials said the decision came as a response to the growing tensions between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office and the Obama administration.

"This is the Obama administration's response to the dinner party Netanyahu held in (Mitt) Romney's honor," a senior member of the political-security cabinet told Ynet, while another official said the Pentagon's decision "isn’t boosting deterrence and is not making the Iranians sweat.

"Regardless of the exercise, the relations between Israel and the US have soured," another minister said, while another added cynically that "our relationship has never been better.

"The US elections are in two months, and there is no doubt that President Barack Obama, if he is reelected, will make Netanyahu pay for his behavior," said the security cabinet member. "It will not pass quietly."

Other officials in Jerusalem said Washington is trying to send a message that Israel will not drag it into war, certainly not before the elections. The Americans were enraged by Israel's repeated threats to launch a solo military attack on Iran's nuclear sites, and top US General Martin Dempsey's recent statement that he does not "want to be complicit" if Israel chooses to attack was carefully worded.

Officials said that while Jerusalem has received the message, the Americans' conduct is leading Iran to believe that it is safe at least until the US elections.

"This is why the Iranians are issuing threatening statements against the US," one official argued. "Washington's hesitant policy is making the Iranians feel freer to move ahead with the nuclear program. This is not how you create deterrence to avoid a military operation."

The joint military drill is scheduled to begin in September and conclude in mid-November. "Israel has no idea why the Americans decided to reduce the number of troops it will send to the drill," a security official said. "The ties between the US and Israeli armies are strong, and we would have known if the reduction had something to do with any tensions between Jerusalem and Washington."

Another security official also rejected the notion that the Pentagon's decision to scale back its participation in the military exercise was meant as a message to Israel: "There are various reasons for decision, but they have nothing to do with the mounting tensions between Jerusalem and Washington. The drill will still be the largest these armies have ever conducted."

According to Time Magazine, the US slashed the number of American troops who were slated to take part in the drill by more than 60%. Instead of the approximately 5,000 troops originally assigned to "Austere Challenge 12," as the exercise is dubbed, the Pentagon will send only 1,500 servicemen and perhaps as few as 1,200.

The number and the potency of missile interception systems that were to be used in the maneuvers were also reduced. Patriot anti-missile systems will arrive in Israel as planned, the crews that can operate them will not. Instead of two Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense warships, only one will be deployed – and even that is uncertain, Time said, citing officials in both the US and Israeli militaries.

Following the excellent contributions from Amy Van Gerping and Jack Kelley which comprise chapters three and four of this series, for chapter five I would like to return to the theme of the opening two sections, and to prove that the Antichrist will indeed be a Muslim from the ancient area of “Assyria”.

For this fifth segment of the series, I wish to refer back to Daniel 2 and the dream given by the Almighty to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. This dream consisted of a large image comprising four main sections, namely the head of gold, the breast and arms of silver, the belly of and thighs of brass, and the feet part of iron and part of clay (Dan 2: 31-33).

Most Biblical scholars and historians are in total agreement that the explanation and interpretation given by Daniel that the head of gold represented the then world dominance of the mighty Babylon. This super-power was eventually succeeded by the Medes and the Persians, and these are represented by the breast and arms of silver.

In turn, this victorious power was eventually superseded by the all-conquering Greek Kingdom led by the totally dominant Alexander the Great, which is represented by the belly and thighs of brass in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream (Dan 2: 36-39).

At this point, comes a division amongst the Biblical scholars, for most Western commentators and expositors then go on to expound that the fourth part of the image, (namely “the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, for iron will break into pieces and subdue all things……and shall break in pieces and bruise” (verse 40), and that this vision represents Rome with all of its might and power.

I will come back to this point shortly to show that this probably is not the case at all, and that the fourth kingdom envisioned by the King has nothing to do with Rome at all! However, for the moment, I would like to concentrate on the third kingdom represented by Alexander the Great and his Greek legions, for here we will find a major clue to assist us in our pursuit of the identity of the Antichrist.

When the all-conquering “Alexander III of Macedon” died in Babylon in 323 BC at the unexpectedly young age of just 33, his direct heirs were not considered strong enough to inherit his kingdom, therefore after his death, Alexander’s vast empire was divided up by his generals, friends, and family. What ensued were roughly fifty years of wars between these various successors, known as the Diadochi. By the third century, Alexander’s kingdom was largely controlled by four dynasties. These four divisions were:

1.      The Ptolemaic dynasty ruling over Egypt, and the South.

2.      The Seleucid dynasty ruling over the North and North Eastern part of the kingdom incorporating Babylon (modern day Iraq), and Syria, and also including modern day Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

3.      The Lysimachean dynasty ruled over ancient the north western part of the empire covering Lydia, Ionia, Phrygia, and the north coast of Asia Minor, roughly equating to what we would call modern day Bulgaria and the surrounding area.

4.      The Cassandrian dynasty ruled over the region of Macedonia, or modern day Greece, the Western part of the empire.

We need to keep a careful eye on this splitting of Alexander’s empire, for out of one of these four succeeding kingdoms, the Antichrist will arise according to the Scriptures. And it is quite obvious from other sections of Daniel’s prophecy, which we will now look at, which is the area we need to pay careful attention to.

Iraq (Babylon) is now a haven for terrorists following the fall of the dictator Saddam Hussein who ruled with a rod of iron, and kept this country of factions together by the use of mighty force. A huge vacuum has been left since the overthrow of this modern day Nebuchadnezzar! And the Scriptures have much to say about Babylon in the last days scenario, and is heavily featured in the Book Of Revelation.

Similarly with Syria at present. Civil War has broken out, and the fall of another despot, Bashar al-Assad, is very imminent. This will leave this ancient country with huge Biblical history also very vulnerable to a take over by the various terrorist factions of Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Egypt has gone the same way in what is known as “The Arab Spring”. Yet another dictator and despot, Hosni Mubarak was recently overthrown, and in a very short space of time, the evil Muslim Brotherhood swept to power. It is these “kings of the north and south” which play such a vital role in end times Bible prophecy, and the puzzle is gradually being unravelled and revealed before our very eyes in the Middle East today.

Although slightly outside the scope of this immediate study, it is interesting to note that in this Arab uprising which started in the Spring of 2011, that yet another hated despot, Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown in Libya, and this country also plays a significant role in future Bible Prophecy (Ezek 38:5 for example).

Coming back to Daniel, and he was given another vision, which he expounds in his eighth chapter. The interpretation is given towards the end, where it states that the kings of Media and Persia (the second segment of Nebuchadnezzar’s image) are overtaken by the King of Greece, namely Alexander (read verses 20,21).

The prophecy continues to state that this Grecian kingdom “is broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in its own power” (verse 22), quite a vivid description of what we have just looked at above.
And it is from one of these kingdoms “in the latter times” that the Antichrist will emerge as the prophet goes on to describe in verses 23-27. 

And Daniel goes on in chapter eleven to offer us even more information by declaring that out of these four kingdoms will emerge the two strongest, namely the King of the North and King of the South (Dan 11:3,4). And the prophecy carries on to predict that the King of the North will prove decisive in battle to emerge victorious.

This is vital to remember before we move on to look at the fourth beast of the vision. The “King of the North” is one of the titles of the Antichrist, as is “The Assyrian” but it is “this north” from Daniel’s prophecy i.e. the ancient Assyrian empire of Babylon/Syria/Turkey, and not the “north” of Russia (which is not mentioned in Holy Writ).

Moving on to the fourth beast then, we need to note the description given to this empire by the prophet. Daniel describes it as “terrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth, it devoured and broke in pieces and stamped what was left with its feet” (Dan 7:7).

While the overwhelming majority of interpreters throughout Church history have believed this fourth beast to represent the Roman Empire, we need to remember that this powerful kingdom from Europe was anything but a destructive empire! Instead it was rather more constructive than destructive, often adding infrastructure, order, and law to the lands it conquered, rather than destroy utterly.

Commentators have applied much hype to the Roman Empire as a crushing entity, often referencing the strength of the Roman military and its great ability to crush rebellions. But is putting down rebellions sufficient to satisfy the dramatic descriptions found in Daniel’s prophecy?

When we consider the nature of the Roman Empire, it was very far from being a destructive influence to its conquered peoples. In fact, quite the opposite. Rome is well known for being a nation-building force of the ancient world. When they conquered a people, rather than destroying the culture, abolishing its religion, and imposing a new language, it generally tolerated these things while adding law, building roads, and creating order.

Beyond infrastructure, while the Romans expected to receive taxes and an acknowledgement of Caesar, the Jewish Temple stood prominently in Jerusalem under Roman authority, and the Jews practiced their religion freely. Roman law protected the Jews’ right to practice their religion for the most part, and it was only when rebellions took place, that they displayed their might in crushing such opposition.

In contrast to the Roman Empire, the other alternative in Daniel’s vision of the fourth beast, the Islamic Empire would never allow such lenience. Their belief has always been that Allah is the one true god, and that their religion of Islam must rule all territories and lands they have conquered.

The Islamic Caliphate from its inception was an Arab-Islamic supremacist force that crushed and erased the cultures and religions of the peoples it conquered. This is due to the uniquely all-encompassing ideology of Islam, which includes every facet of life. Islam has rules and commandments that pertain to far more than just theology. It also dictates law, government, language, military, and even the sexual and hygienic practices of those under its authority. The very name Islam means “submission” to the laws of Allah, as well as the practices of Muhammad their prophet.

Islam is the epitome of a totalitarian ideology. Wherever Islam spread, it brought with it this oppressive ideology of submission. Islam conquered all the regions of the former Babylonian, Medo-Persian, and Greek empires. It exported and imposed the Arabic language onto a vast proportion of its conquered peoples.

Today, in Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and throughout much of North Africa, the people speak Arabic. While the Persians and the Turks have retained their own languages, their alphabets were both Arabised. Later, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk enforced a new anglicised alphabet in Turkey. As an imperial force, Islam imposed  Arab religion and culture onto all of its dominated peoples, while erasing evidence of previous religions and non-Islamic cultures.

In our next segment, we will expound more on this subject and give even more evidence to the argument that the Islamic Caliphate from Turkey offers a far more satisfying answer to the problematic question and identity of the fourth beast of Daniel’s dream.

As stated before, the western leg of the Roman Empire (from Rome in Italy itself) came to an end around 476 AD. The Eastern leg, however, ruled for approximately 1592 years, firstly from the Byzantine Kingdom from 330 AD (centred in Constantinople, modern day Istanbul, capital of Turkey) up to the end of the thirteenth century, and then followed by the Ottoman Empire (or the Turkish Empire) which ruled for 623 years from 1299  until 1922 when the monarchy was abolished.

Turkey, to the direct north of Israel and part of the ancient Assyrian Empire has a far better claim than Italy to being the area from which the Antichrist will arise. There is a lot more we can add to validate this point, but that will have to wait for chapter six.
